Greenlining's 20th Annual Economic Summit will be held in San Francisco at the historic Fairmont Hotel on May 17th, 2013. We anticipate over 1,000 attendees, including leaders from the community, private, and public sectors, including business associations, legislators, and regulatory officials.  We will bring together diverse stakeholders who may not otherwise have the opportunity to connect; stakeholders who together can solve some of our nation’s most pressing problems.

We believe that we should focus on solving problems and seizing opportunities, not on fighting.  As Congressman Barney Frank said at a previous Economic Summit, “I regard the work of Greenlining as the purest form of capitalism.  You’re trying to make the system work the way it’s supposed to.”

Greenlining is a racial justice advocacy, research, organizing and leadership development institute. Our goal is to end “redlining,” the practice of denying services and products to communities of color, across industries and sectors.  In its 20 years, Greenlining has served as a bridge of unlikely partners, connecting influencers in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors to address the needs of communities of color.  We aim to close the growing racial wealth gap, build asset-strong communities, and ensure that everyone has meaningful access to the American Dream.

Greenlining is a trusted voice in low income and communities of color. We are many time the lone representative of our communities’ needs at regulatory hearings and proceedings, and in the offices of corporate executives.  We have a track record of community and policy successes that span ballot initiatives, regulatory bodies, local and state government, and the private sector. We attribute these successes to a deep commitment to partnership, racial and ethnic diversity, civic participation, and a growing list of strong relationships with community stakeholders.

We have confirmed a slew of great speakers including keynotes from Van Jones (founder of Green for All and Rebuild the Dream) and Sheila Bair, former Chairperson of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and current Senior Advisor at the Pew Charitable Trusts . Click here to view the updated agenda including all confirmed speakers.
