The Oakland Climate Action Coalition has made great strides recently in its efforts to push for an equitable Energy and Climate Action Plan (ECAP). In partnership with the Coalition, the Local Clean Energy Alliance is urging Oakland to join San Francisco and Marin's call for reclaiming local control of energy efficiency Public Goods Charge funds. Public Goods Charge funds are a much-needed source of capital to implement a comprehensive and equitable energy efficiency retrofit program for Oakland residents. The Local Clean Energy Alliance is also providing vital input on the Port section, and has called upon the city to conduct a yearly assessment of the opportunity offered by Community Choice energy to dramatically cut climate pollution and boost our local clean energy economy.

The second draft of of the ECAP was released in late November, and the Coalition and Alliance provided constructive feedback at a recent meeting of the Public Works Committee (see the Alliance's Dave Room at upper-left). The next opportunity for public comment will happen early next year. For more information on the plan, or to submit your own feedback, please visit SustainableOakland.com.
