Transportation 2035: Change in Motion - Help Steer a Better Course for Bay Area Transportation

Spring brings a new wave of opportunities to help shape the Bay Areas Transportation 2035 Plan, a work in progress that looks 25 years down the road. With a title of Change in Motion, the development of this blueprint for transportation investments throughout the nine-county region signals a commitment to promoting sustainability and mobility in the face of continued growth and global warming impacts. The plan is being prepared by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), in conjunction with the Association of Bay Area Governments, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the Bay Conservation and Development Commission.

Following extensive outreach in the fall of 2007 and the submission of hundreds of possible transportation projects, MTC is now seeking input on the next phase of the development of the Transportation 2035 Plan: the trade-offs among various options for investing the regions limited transportation resources. A series of nine workshops - one in each of the nine Bay Area counties - is scheduled for the public to participate in the debate. The new plan - due for adoption in early 2009 - will detail a comprehensive strategy to not only protect our existing transportation assets but also to accommodate future growth, alleviate congestion, reduce pollution and ensure mobility for all Bay Area residents, regardless of income.

Attend one of the workshops listed below, and join the discussion. Refreshments will be provided.
