Join Acta Non Verba, Communities for a Better Environment and Bay Area allies to harness and build more local community-based solutions that feed the hearts and minds of the people and the community!

With the 1% profiting from pollution and environmental racism here in Oakland and around the world, they continue to propose false solutions to climate change designed to make more profits instead of the health of the people and the planet.

In Solidarity with Grassroots Global Justice Alliance & LA Via Campesina North America, are calling on all members and allies to mobilize on Saturday, December 3rd for “1000 DURBANS FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE! STOP THE 1% FROM PROFITING FROM POLLUTION, LIFT UP COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS THAT COOL THE PLANET!” On this day we will join people in social movements from across the globe in creating 1000’s OF DURBANS in conjunction with the social movement activities around the UN climate talks in Durban, South Africa. From November 28 - December 9, government representatives are once again gathering for the 17th Conference of Polluters, otherwise known as the United Nations Conference of Parties (COP17) on climate change. Tens of thousands of frontline community members disproportionately impacted by climate disruption and environmental racism, and their allies, will gather across the world calling out the 1% and building community solutions and resilience.

In solidarity with these actions, we are working to continue to reclaim city and public land through expanding Tassafaronga Farm by adding 18 more raised beds.  The Farm already has 10 raised beds and this expansion will continue to be a model to expanding Oakland Parks and Recreation land as well as pursuing more idle city land for urban agriculture and healthy food for all residents of Oakland.

We will also have discussions on supporting various local community solutions, climate justice, food sovereignty, reclaiming land and building community resilience. With the occupy movement continuing to spark our imagination of what’s possible, we want to harness the actions needed in our community and for the needs of the people.

Let’s get our hands dirty on December 3rd and keep our eyes on the prize for the people and the planet!
